Introduction of Undergraduate Education Programme for ‘Electrical Engineering and Automation’ of Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) and the University of Sydney, Australia
On March 13th 2006, HIT has singed an agreement on joint education for five majors including: Electric Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Software Engineering and Civil Engineering. In November 2009, joint education on undergraduate education for the major of Electrical Engineering and Automation by HIT and University of Sydney has been approved by Ministry of Education with the enrollment of students in the programme in 2010, several students having a 2-year study in the University of Sydney after the 2-year study in HIT. For the expansion of bilateral exchange and cooperation, the two sides, after consultation, renewed the agreement in October 2011, increasing the number of students enrolled of every major every year from 18 to 20.
The programme is officially listed on the average college enrollment plan with a ‘2+2’ training model in which students spend two years in HIT and then another two in the University of Sydney with training plan made by both sides. During the study in HIT, some courses will be given by professors from University of Sydney and some teaching materials introduced to HIT, too. Students who finish the study in the programme with all the credits required will be awarded with a certificate of Bachelor Degree by University of Sydney, a diploma and certificate of Bachelor Degree of Harbin Institute of Technology.
In line with the Regulation of the People's Republic of China on Chinese-foreign Cooperative Education, and related regulations and documents, HIT sticks to high standards in education, introducing quality educational resources while integrating the programme into the overall planning and management of teaching activity in order to ensure the smooth progress of teaching practice, discipline construction, management of teaching staff, scientific research and others related work.
