Achievements by Xin Lichen, student of the School of International Co-education

  Xin Lichen, a student of 2010 majoring in Electrical Engineering and Automation of the School of International Cooperative Education is honoured as ‘Ten Loving Figures of the Hope Project of Heilongjiang Province in 2010’ for his years of consecutive donation to the Hope Project, his help to the poor students in college and other selfless contributions to the society.
  Publishment of ‘Spirit’and sales for charity
  Xin Lichen has always been willing to make contributions to the society since he was a child. He intended to publish novels in the second of High school. While in worry of his study, his parents gave no support to him at first. But through consecutive work, Xin finished the novel ‘Spirit’ with 300 thousand characters when no one knew. Through communication, his parents agreed to publish his novel with financial support.
  With the efforts of concerning authorities, Xin, under the support of Fund of Adolescent Development of Heilongjiang Province, has organized a signing meeting of his book for charity in Central Bookstore of Harbin in which 58 books were sold and 2015 yuan, the total sale, was donated to the Hope Project on the spot. What’s more, Xin decided to help a poor student from Fuyuan County of Jiamusi. Thus, Xin was rewarded as the first ‘Volunteer of the Hope Project’ of Heilongjiang Province.
  Volunteering after high school graduation
  In the year of 2010, Xin took the college entrance examination and was recruited by the School of International Cooperative Education in the major of Electrical Engineering and Automation with a high score. After that, Xin worked as a family tutor and donated his income together with that of the sales from his books to Fund of Adolescent Development of Heilongjiang Province and decided to help a poor student from Bayan County on living expenses.
  Before the end of the summer holiday, Xin worked for a week as a volunteer for Fund of Adolescent Development of Heilongjiang Province during which he won himself of high praise from the working staff there with his article, the materials he collected, the type-in work and his diligence and strictness. During his work, Xin has made his contributions to the cause of the Hope Project and showed the high quality of a good volunteer by his courteousness and hospitality in the work with the donators and receivers.
  Award for continuous contribution
  In the winter holiday of 2010, Xin wanted to give a hand to the improvement on countryside education and got registered in the students teaching staff to the countryside of Dawn Programme organized by Heilongjiang province. However, because time wouldn’t allow, Xin finally took part in the teaching of the children of migrant workers’ in Qimingxing Community of Northeast Forestry University.
  In the activity, Xin became the class teacher of the fifth grade in a primary school, responsible for the teaching of math, Chinese, science, PE, etc. Through full preparations of the class, Xin has established a systematic and sound teaching system for the student to fully grasp the knowledge. After the class, under the leadership of Xin, students took an active part in the rehearsal of Spring Festival Gala which gave an opportunity to the students to improve their social ability and felt the love from the society. On the way to school and home after school, Xin took the responsibility of guarding and accompanying the students not matter it rained or stormed, which won himself of high remarks from the students and their parents.  
  When talking about the days with children, Xin was very happy: ‘When seeing their lovely smiling faces, I felt true innocence and happiness and I will make efforts to help then learn knowledge and enable them to become the pillar of our country!’
  For his spirit of supporting and contributions to the Hope Project, Xin, at the beginning of 2011, was honoured as ‘Ten Loving Figures of the Hope Project of Heilongjiang Province’, with his achievements appearing on the colour page of the People Yearbook of Harbin in 2010. He was not over-conceited and showed his willingness in making continuous contribution to the cause of social charity.
  On April 4th 2011, Xin attended the memorial meeting of Zhang Qingyun, one of the ten ‘People who moved Heilongjiang Province’ during which Xin studied seriously the outstanding deeds by grandmother Zhang and, on behalf of volunteers, delivered his remarks ‘Grandmother Zhang has devoted her life to the cause of education. She not only involved her whole life in education, but also sold her houses and donated her savings to the establishment of Hope Primary School. Her spirit of love is worth the admiration of all the young people and on behalf of all the volunteers, I will carry on the cause of her and take my own share in the improvement of the Hope Project and social education.’ Just as he said, Xin has committed himself to social charity and made contributions to the public welfare of Heilongjiang province.
  At the end of May 2011, Xin, moved by the deeds of Grandmother Zhang, has come to Qingyun Primary School in Acheng with Fund of Adolescent Development of Heilongjiang Province and donated his toys and books to them with the love and care from the society. Xin also decided to help a student of sixth grade to carry on his study and enter junior high school for study.
  On June 22 2011, Xin took part in the activity ‘Memorial and Donation’ in Heilongjiang province for a week under the leadership of the League Committee and Fund of Adolescent Development of Heilongjiang Province and acted as the flag-bearer. In the activity, he devoted himself to the communication with teachers and students of the local schools and spread the spirit of love across the land of Heilongjiang province. His active reaction with media and press has enriched the coverage of the activity by recording what he saw and felt in time.
  Devoted to public welfare, continuing the hope
  During the summer holiday of 2011, Xin was still interested in public charity and donated his income as a tutor together with that of the sales from his books to Fund of Adolescent Development of Heilongjiang Province and decided to help a poor student from Zhaozhou County of Daqing. He has also spread the spirit of volunteering to his classmates by bringing them to Fund of Adolescent Development as volunteers and led them onto their path of selfishness dedication.
  The school calls on more students to learn from Xin Lichen, to contribute their love and energy for social causes.
